After school - Tutoring

Helping slow learners to improve their academic perfomance

Learners at Likhubula Primary School

This is the oldest initiative in Rays of Hope. The goal of this program is to ensure that students from poor background complete primary school with excellence.

Students go to school in the morning and come back to our program for a meal, tutoring, discipleship, and play. We deliver it through camp leaders, who are equipped with tutoring and discipleship skills.
We started in a single location, Chilomoni, now we are in 4 locations serving 10 primary schools benefiting over 976 students. The intervention targets those students who are struggling in their academics. The afterschool centers are safe space for support, affirmation, and encouragement. We meet the students from Monday to Saturday providing tutoring, Bible Studies, counselling, and field visits. We integrate faith in all our activities.
